First Lady Trina Jenkins is the devoted wife of the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, John K. Jenkins Sr. Married since 1980, the couple are the proud parents of six children, two of which are married, and five grandchildren. When she is not serving in ministry, First Lady Trina spends her time maintaining the Jenkins’ home and spending quality time with family and friends.

First Lady Trina’s story is one that could have been lifted from a Christian fairy tale. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1976 at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, Md., during a service in which her future husband (Pastor Jenkins) was the youth preacher.

A distinguished woman in her own right, First Lady Trina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Maryland in 1982. She went on to receive an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Truth Bible College in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2004.

Her knack for the spiritual development of women and families is evident in her ministry, as well as her professional life. After completing the instructor training program offered by the Natural Family Planning Providers Association of Maryland and the District of Columbia, she worked for Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., as a certified natural family planning instructor.

First Lady Trina relishes her other role as the director of the Family Life Ministries Department at First Baptist. With the goal of “developing dynamic families,” she oversees more than 30 ministries related to men, women and families. She also preaches and teaches at various venues such as churches, retreats and conferences in the United States, as well as Africa.
